Meet the Staff of Church of the Holy Spirit
Pastor Clancy Nixon - Rector, Lead Pastor
Clancy grew up in a secular home and came to Christ as a teenager at Calvary
Camp in Conneaut, Ohio. However, he was not discipled at that time, and he walked away from Christ when he went to college. He spent nine years living a secular life until he came back to Christ at age 26. In 1992, while a layman and volunteer youth leader at Church of the Apostles in Fairfax, Clancy sensed that God was calling him to be a church planter. He continued to practice law while he attended Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria [Masters in Divinity, cum laude, 1998]. In 1998, he was ordained, and began to serve at Truro Church in Fairfax. Truro has a history of planting many churches, and its rector, Martyn Minns, continued that tradition. While there, Clancy ran the Alpha Course and newcomer programs. He began gathering a group of people from Truro and from other communities in 2000 to start the new church in 2001.
Why would anyone want to pastor a start-up church? "I have a heart for secular people, because I was one for so long. God’s love changed me. In Christ, I found my heart’s fulfillment, for which I had searched for so long. Through His Church, I found healing, true friends, and power for living. I also have a heart for discipling believers, since I was not discipled as a youth. Church is more than rules and traditions. The Church is a community of people who love God, love His ways, and love one another. Our people are talented, enjoyable and committed. This is great fun!”Clancy was born in 1957 and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied modern history and graduated cum laude from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1980. He was an editor of the Law Review at University of California, Davis [J.D., 1983]. He practiced business and finance law in the Washington DC area for fifteen years. He was an associate at the Washington office of Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft, and senior counsel at Freddie Mac.
Clancy married Ginger in 1986, and they adopted Will and Sam as newborns in 1989 and 1992.

Ginger Nixon - Pastoral Associate
Ginger Nixon was born in a Christian home in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in English in 1975. She married Clancy in 1986. Before the birth of their sons, Will and Sam, she was a management consultant for Price Waterhouse. She was a full-time mom for 8 years. After the boys were in school full-time, she worked for Freddie Mac doing in-house project management. In the summer of 2000, Ginger left Freddie and joined Clancy in planting Church of the Holy Spirit.
Ginger’s personal mission statement is “encouraging others to become who God created them to be.” This includes teaching about Christ, showing how to apply the Bible to their lives, praying for people and walking alongside them during times of joy or trial. Nice for Ginger, the heart of her mission is exactly what she does at Church of the Holy Spirit.
Her church duties include pastoral calls, leading the prayer chain, praying with individuals, hosting the church office, and special events. She leads our Listening Class and Marriage Course Teams.Email: ginger.nixon@minister.com

Jan Fearing - Children's Minister
Jan leads the Children's Ministry Team, making sure that everything and everyone is ready for worship. At Church of the Holy Spirit, our priorities for the children are that they:
- come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior;
- grace each other with Christian fellowship; and
- bring other children to God.
Jan was born in 1962 of World War II generation parents in Tucson, Arizona. After graduating from high school in 1980, she decided to try the school of hard knocks instead of entering right into college. For several years she worked in restaurants, traveled, flew airplanes, and was an ultra-light flying instructor. For 12 years after that, she worked in the then fledgling computer industry eventually becoming product manager for new technologies while attending classes and working toward a degree in history.
Jan married Syd Fearing in 1995 and have two sons, Zebadiah (Zeb is 10) and Justice (Jub is 9). They love living on their 1820’s farm in Lucketts. Jan grew up in a loving but non-Christian home and for years Syd patiently shared Scripture and prayers with Jan while they raised their young family. After attending church for a few years, becoming involved in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and marinating in God’s Word, Jan gave her life to Jesus. Both Jan and Syd teach children’s Sunday School classes and Syd leads one of the set up teams for the church.
“My heart is truly with children and their families and especially dear to me is that elementary school age when the kids are so sharp, so capable, so happy and willing to learn, yet still hold onto much of their innocence. I believe these years to be exceedingly important in forming their attraction to God and the ways of righteousness. Working with children is both a joyful honor and sober responsibility. I feel a sense of excitement and urgency about nurturing our children in their relationship with God and knowledge of His Word.”
